    Presenting a natural landscape of an open valley with rock formation and rolling hills, the artist has used a rich and bold colour palette comprising both dark and light shades to execute this panoramic view, and has skilfully managed to capture the stillness and vastness of nature.

    Wonderfully lightly textured and painterly brushstrokes fill the canvas, and the contrasting colours create depth and a sense of space within the painting.

    Cederberg was a Swedish artist who made his debut on the art world in Helsingborg in 1922. Later he participated in the Skåne Art Association Exhibition in 1926 and the  Swedish Public Art Society exhibition in Stockholm in 1941. He is represented in several public collections in Sweden.

    Deep and rich planes of colours fill the canvas, with angular forms and distinct lines building up into a semi abstract portrait. We see the figure in side profile, arms and legs in the midst of movement.  The artist teases our eye – we are unable to discern where her dress and legs end, and where the background begins. Angled planes of white surrounding the figure illuminate her  upper body, skilfully narrowing our eyes towards the main figure, before then dispersing as the body and background become indistinguishable.
