Pears & Jar

A charming mid-century still life that captures a tabletop scene with a loosely grouped arrangement of fruit and a central jar, executed in oil onto board.
The composition features a rustic jar surrounded by pears and an apple, all set on a cool blue cloth that adds a rich contrast to the warmer tones of the produce.
Executed in a painterly style, the work embraces expressive, visible brushstrokes and a muted yet earthy palette dominated by yellows, greens, and blues. The artist has used quick, confident strokes and subtle layering to suggest form and light, giving the work a tactile, almost sculptural quality.
With its rich colour palette and energetic brushstrokes, the piece suggests movement and emotion, reminiscent of Paul Cézanne and other Post-Impressionist artists approach to still life, with objects slightly distorted yet carefully arranged to create harmony.
This oil on board is housed in a complementary distressed style white frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has minor scuffing but this is in keeping with its vintage style.
