An outstanding mid-century figurative composition, executed in pastel and watercolour on paper.

Painted in an abstract manner, all realistic details have been omitted and the composition has a strong focus on brushstrokes and colour as we discern 3 figures seated in the foreground of the painting, set against an effectively coloured backdrop that could resemble a landscape setting.

This work of art has both a painting and drawing style, with a combination of broad sweeping strokes in brown, as well as sketch-like lines used to outline the silhouettes of the figures.

This watercolour and pastel on paper is housed in a complementary painted wooden frame with gilt detail and inner linen border, and is framed behind non-reflective glass. There is some slight age toning to the paper and linen border, commensurate with age, but overall the painting and frame are in good vintage condition.
