    A brilliantly executed abstract figurative composition executed in oil, by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum, and Jönköping Museum.

    Small yet impactful in its composition, two figures are seated side by side, enjoying each others company in silence. Abstract in nature, the figures’ features are obscured, and their bodies are perceptible only through carefully applied brushstrokes which hint at its structure. The figures are seated against a richly coloured backdrop of greens and blues executed with expressive and energetic brushwork, adding a touch of liveliness to the overall composition.

    This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame with and inner linen border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

    An engaging abstract composition by contemporary British artist Frances Daws, executed in acrylic onto canvas board and dated 2024.
    Part of the ‘Imbolc’ series, the painting has been created by responding to the colours of local landscapes through the seasons of the traditional Celtic Calendar.
    The early days of the year, treading muddy fields, grey lifeless skies. Warm pinks and soft yellow hiding in the midst of sepias, umbers and russets, this is the colour of Imbolc. A season of waiting, reflection, cosy jumpers, bitter cold puddles as big as ponds, impatience and planning.

    This acrylic on canvas board is framed within a ‘St Ives’ style white wooden frame to capture the complexity of the colours within. Both the painting and frame are in excellent condition. The artwork comes with a certificate of authenticity and signature on the reverse.

    Frances Daws is a British Artist working in the Southwest of England. Primarily a painter she also works within printmaking. Having lived by the English coastline and now residing within the countryside her work is often formed by ‘colour journeys’ a form of mapping the landscape through the emotive language of colour.
