A charming mid-century modernist abstract still life oil composition dated 1954, and painted by the established Swedish artist Ture Fabiansson (1910-1994), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, The Museum of Art in Gothenburg, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and many others.

The painting depicts an abundant arrangement of rounded fruits or apples scattered loosely across a warm earthen ground. Rather than presenting the objects in a conventional tabletop arrangement, the artist allows them to overlap and drift across the composition, creating a wonderfully rhythmic pattern of organic forms. Many of the subjects Rix paints are inspired by the animals he sees from day to day. Rix uses recycled materials including discarded paints, boards, frames and backing paper. Much of his work is therefore produced using waste materials resulting in sustainable paintings that evoke a time-worn, nostalgic essence.
