    Coastal Reverie

    Sold

    SOLD

A contemporary abstract landscape painting that presents a tranquil yet expressive interpretation of a coastal horizon, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 2004.

The painting captures the essence of a shoreline scene through abstraction, distilling it into pure colour and form. Divided into horizontal bands of colour, the composition evokes the meeting of sky, sea, and land with a minimalist, yet deeply atmospheric approach.

Rendered in an abstract style and reminiscent of Colour Field painting, the artist has used a harmonious palette of soft lavender, warm orange, muted olive, deep turquoise, and pale sky blue – imbuing the work with a soothing quality. Broad, gestural brushstrokes have been executed, allowing the texture of the canvas to show through in places, creating a sense of movement and organic imperfection. The blending of colours suggests atmospheric depth, while the bold, dark band of blue-green near the horizon anchors the composition, guiding the viewer’s eye across the expanse of land and sea.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary lavender painted wood frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

Form & Field (Set of 2)

    Sold

    SOLD

A striking mid-century set of abstract paintings that presents a dynamic exploration of geometry, movement, and texture, executed in oil onto board.

One panel is anchored by overlapping arch forms that slice through fields of green and magenta, intersected by rectilinear blocks in turquoise, purple, and orange. The other panel contrasts this with an organic constellation of amoeba-like shapes in plum, teal, and periwinkle, suspended over a rich patchwork of angled planes.

Rendered in a meticulous crosshatch technique, the surface of each panel vibrates with energy. The artist has used fine, directional brushstrokes to build a complex tactile field, imbuing the composition with a sense of movement and dimensionality. The colour palette is both earthy and vibrant.

Together, the panels evoke the duality of logic and intuition, with the left panel leaning toward structured geometry and the right into fluid abstraction, making this set a compelling addition to any art collection.

  • Geometric Collage in Raw Umber

    Geometric Collage in Raw Umber

    Sold

    SOLD

A very unique original artwork by British artist Dave Boyd, constructed from discarded books (repurposed cloth covers, papers, cardboard, binding boards) mounted on a wooden panel in a solid wood float frame.

The background is composed of a richly textured, raw umber surface made from aged book cloth, divided horizontally at its midpoint, enhancing the piece’s sense of structure and symmetry. The material bears the worn, mottled patina of time, evoking a tactile warmth and nostalgic depth.

Centrally placed is a vertical arrangement of nine small rectangles, each made from a different swatch of book cloth. These blocks vary in hue—soft blues, warm reds, ochres, deep burgundy, and neutral beige—and are carefully aligned to form a grid-like column. Their tight geometry contrasts with the organic wear of the background, creating visual tension and balance.

The artwork is presented in wood frame that suits it very well. It has been constructed with professional grade adhesive and is shipped with robust fixings, ready to hang, Both artwork and frame are in excellent condition.

Dave’s artistic practice focuses on the juxtaposition between the manmade and the natural and the human experience of geometric forms, surfaces and materials. Paintings and collages often embody a built or constructed aesthetic and are strongly influenced by architecture and the built environment, with the aim of suggesting visual encounters with structures and landscapes. Utilising and repurposing materials,  with a focus on minimal composition, surface and colour, Dave’s work seek to utilise the subtle marks inherent in objects that have been used and handled over many years.

  • Matrix (Very Large)

    Matrix (Very Large)

    Sold

    SOLD

A very large and striking 21st-century abstract geometric painting, executed in oil on canvas.

This mesmerising painting is composed entirely of triangular shapes arranged in a tight, grid-like pattern. The triangles are painted in a restricted but bold palette of black, dark brown, white, and a soft cream, which creates a strong visual rhythm and contrast across the canvas. There is a visual order but the subtle shifts in orientation and colour prevent it from becoming monotonous.

The stark contrast between deep browns, black, and crisp white creates strong visual impact, but the occasional soft cream triangle adds warmth and breaks the binary, giving the eye a place to rest.

From afar the painting looks clean, precise and monotone. But as you move toward it and study its intricacies, you begin to realise the range of colours and the visible brushstrokes, which further enhances the fact that this is indeed a hand painted piece with more subtle details that are not immediately obvious at first glance.

The restrained colour scheme enhances sophistication. It feels modern and timeless, making it versatile in a range of settings from minimalist homes to design-forward spaces.

This large oil on canvas is housed in a very well suited black frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has some scuffing present.

    Port Construct

    Sold

    SOLD.

A striking mid-century abstract painting that explores the structural rhythms of a harbour or port cityscape, rendered through a bold interplay of geometric forms and mirrored reflections, and executed in oil onto board.

Angular shapes and intersecting planes suggest industrial architecture – perhaps cranes and bridges – set against a waterfront backdrop. The lower half of the canvas evokes the surface of water, softly reflecting the rigid structures above.

Executed in thick, expressive brushstrokes, the artist has used a restrained yet dynamic palette of cool sea-blues, teal greens, soft greys, and sandy browns, punctuated by touches of deep navy and burnt orange. An engaging contemporary animal composition that captures the stoic presence of a black and white Hereford bull, painted in a naïve style in oil onto panel by British artist Matt Rix.

The bull is set against a minimalistic backdrop of golden hills and a pale lavender-grey sky. The animal stands in full profile, its rounded form and serene expression exuding calm strength and quiet vigilance.

The painting’s style is firmly rooted in folk art traditions, with simplified forms, flat areas of colour, and a lack of perspectival depth that give it a timeless, almost storybook quality. The palette is subdued yet effective with colours that create a harmonious contrast, with touches of pink on the hooves and snout lending a touch of warmth.

  • Steamship and Sperm Whale

    Steamship and Sperm Whale

    Sold

    SOLD

A very engaging nautical whale scene, painted in a naïve style in oil onto canvas, by British artist Matt Rix.

This painting depicts a stylised sperm whale swimming through calm blue waters, with a black steamboat emitting dark smoke on the horizon. The whale is painted in a naïve folk art style, with exaggerated features like a massive rectangular head, curling tail, and a row of sharp, white teeth in a red mouth. The whale’s eye is small, white, and almond-shaped, giving it a slightly humorous, alert expression.

The composition is simple and clean, using flat areas of colour—blue for the sea, white for the sky, and black and red for the whale and ship. The whimsical quality and handmade texture give the artwork a storybook charm, evoking themes of nature versus machine, or perhaps a playful nod to classic maritime tales like Moby Dick.

Signed on the bottom right, the work balances folk simplicity with quiet wit and character.

This oil on canvas is housed in a wood frame which suits it well. Both painting and frame are in very good condition.

British artist Matt Rix spent his childhood in South Africa and now lives with his family on a small holding in rural North Wales. His paintings are uncomplicated, modernist representations influenced by primitive and naïve folk art from times past. Many of the subjects Rix paints are inspired by the animals he sees from day to day. Rix uses recycled materials including discarded paints, boards, frames and backing paper. Much of his work is therefore produced using waste materials resulting in sustainable paintings that evoke a time-worn, nostalgic essence.

    Stillness in the Sunlight

    Sold

    SOLD

A nostalgic and subdued mid-century modernist style composition, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

A female figure in a patterned brown dress and matching headscarf stands with her back turned, gazing out toward a sunlit seafront. Her form is silhouetted against a pale, softly radiant sky, while two distant figures walk near the shoreline, rendered in minimal, blurred strokes.

Executed in a minimalist modernist style, the painting features simplified forms and subtle geometry. The palette is muted yet warm – soft browns, beiges, and taupes contrast gently with the hazy whites and greys of the sky, punctuated by a sliver of blue on the horizon. The brushwork is smooth and controlled, with soft gradients and diffused edges creating a dreamlike, almost cinematic stillness. The overall effect evokes quiet introspection, solitude, and the gentle passage of time.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary champagne-coloured frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

A cheerful and expressive mid-century still life that bursts with warmth and rustic simplicity, executed in oil onto canvas.

Seven radiant sunflowers, rendered in golden yellows with dark, textured centers, stand proudly in a deep blue pitcher that anchors the composition. To the right, a small green bowl cradles a red apple and a golden pear – an understated yet charming detail that balances the composition.
