Donkeys, which are an integral part of Moroccan life, are featured in this painting, as a man is depicted riding on one as his main mode of transportation.

The magic in this is that the artist has taken ordinary objects, and has looked at them in a way that has removed all preconceived notions of visual experience in order to open up the possibility of recreating and reimagining that defies reality. There is an openness to serious play with colour and shape. This painting is simple and surprisingly subtle, but very satisfying to look at, and to enjoy.

This post impressionistic painting is a fine example of the way in which an artist can celebrate the material properties of the medium of oil. Urgent, rough and bold brushstrokes are accentuated by thick, short, colourful, blocky bursts that add a sense of youthful energy. Here the artist has banished preconceived notions about object and colour from his or her mind (such as grass being just green), and has instead painted the colour hues and tones as seen in that particular moment in the natural light.
The ruggedness of the landscape is almost mimicked by the way the artist has applied the paint, where you can almost see the bristles of the brush and the heavy-handedness in the application, giving the painting a visual palpability.

This captivating still life in oil depicting tulips in a vase features bold colours, strong outlines, and lots of texture. Thick, creamy layers of oil paint have been applied generously by the artist, giving this painting a real tactility. Painted on a long vertical canvas with a very well balanced composition, our eyes are led from top to bottom. At first glace we notice the 6 upright blooms, but then our eyes are drawn downwards toward the one wilting flower, its soft stem forming a curved line that contrasts with the straighter angles of the other tulips and their leaves. The horseshoe reflection on the vase lead us down to the single pear that sits on the table – the final punctuation in this wonderfully compositioned piece.
This original oil was painted in 1959. It is housed in a deep gilt frame with an inner moulding that is stained green and highlights the painting perfectly. There is a slight widening to the top right joint of the frame, but otherwise the painting and frame are in very good condition.

The female figure is well-composed and has an air of confidence. Her hair is styled in a bun, without a single strand out of place. At work, she is a woman of power, and she has just returned home after a long day of negotiating deals, wanting to unwind.
The viewer is unable to make eye contact, as she is faced away gazing to the distance, and appears to be caught up in her thoughts, and not wishing to be interrupted.
Her body recognises that it is time to unwind and leave one’s worries behind, as she is sat in a relaxed manner – with her slender legs stretched out, and her hands laid across the arm rests.
It is signed and dated 1943 to the lower left, and is complemented by its gilt frame.
