An oil painting reminiscent of the famous expressionist works by Vincent Van Gogh, this Swedish oil bears striking colour, emphatic brushwork and contoured forms, telling a story with a paintbrush. The artist has used the impasto technique fervently, applying the paint thickly to the canvas so that it stands proud and creates a three-dimensional effect. Swirls of coloured paint lend a warm glow to this intimate night time scene.
This striking oil is painted on canvas on stretchers, and is framed in its original box frame which shows off its wood grain.
Painted in 1969, it remains in excellent vintage condition.
