A playful and edgy one-off original monoprint presented in a sapele frame, by British artist Olivia Bouzyk.

Unlike most printmaking, where artists create an edition of identical prints, a monoprint produces just one final piece. Olivia works on a plate — inking, painting, and layering textures — and then transfers the image onto paper. But because of the process, it can never be repeated in the same way again.

This artworks is a two layered monoprint which creates new lines and curves through the simple layering. This allows each shape to emphasise its own individuality.

Each work holds the spontaneity of the moment it was made — the way the ink spread, the pressure of the press, the marks left behind. No two are ever alike. When you own one of Olivia’s prints, you’re holding the only version that exists.

Olivia works with contrasts in line, colour and form and a sense of harmony is achieved by balancing this series of juxtapositions.

This artwork, as with the others, has no intended direction, so it can be hung to suit the viewer’s space/inclinations. The fixtures on the back of all the prints are on each side so that they can be hung in any direction, and the signature also has no intended direction.

It is mounted and housed in a high quality sapele wood frame with anti reflective UV glass. Both frame and artwork are in excellent condition.

A fun and edgy large one-off original monoprint presented in a coloured frame, by British artist Olivia Bouzyk.

This monoprint is created from two individual stencils on different ghost print monoprint plates in two separate colours (a ghost print is when the plate has already gone through the press). Whilst the different layers are already in different shapes, there are additional dialogues between the different components because of the different shapes that appear within the main shapes as a result of the ghost print.

Olivia works with contrasts in line, colour and form and a sense of harmony is achieved by balancing this series of juxtapositions.

This print, as with the others, has no intended direction, so it can be hung to suit the viewer’s space/inclinations.

A unique abstract monotype by contemporary British artist Frances Daws, dated 2021 and beautifully presented in a white card mount and framed behind glass.

The composition features a mini seascape, using a rich Prussian blue against handmade papers and finished with gold. Dancing Waves is a small monotype, exploring how the process of monotype and particularly the removing and layering of ink can form semi recognisable seascapes. Although not based on a specific place, the movement of the ink makes this imaginary seascape remind you of dancing waves. This monotype is 1/1 , making it entirely unique.

Frances Daws is a British Artist working in the Southwest of England. Primarily a painter she also works within printmaking. Having lived by the English coastline and now residing within the countryside her work is often formed by ‘colour journeys’ a form of mapping the landscape through the emotive language of colour.

The monotype is framed behind glass. Both artwork and frame are in excellent condition.

A unique abstract monotype by contemporary British artist Frances Daws, dated 2022 and beautifully presented in a white card mount and framed behind glass.

Into the wild is a monotype which creates a sense of a stormy sea, using chine-collé against the black ink. This was made using dampened paper and etching ink, whilst the lokta paper for the chine-collé  attached using a rice paste as it is rolled with the plate through the press. This process has given the monotype great depth and texture.

Olivia works on a plate — inking, painting, and layering textures — and then transfers the image onto paper. But because of the process, it can never be repeated in the same way again.

This artwork is created from two layers of ink on purple card. There is a slight texture to the dark blue, as some of the purple background can be seen underneath. The yellow flowers are slightly translucent but with thicker, textured ink. The flowers are made from a paper stencil which was of a drawing from the Essex coastline.

A fun and edgy one-off original digitally manipulated monoprint sandwiched between a custom perspex frame, by British artist Olivia Bouzyk.

This is a digital monoprint (only one exists, it is original and one-of-a-kind) of a scanned in monoprint, which was digitally edited and manipulated. Through the digital editing process Olivia is able to have greater control over the specific colours and textures, emphasising the textural quality of the ink, increasing the scale and saturating the colours, creating a more dynamic dialogue between the lines, forms and colours.

The light qualities of the perspex frame (a frosted green back panel and a tinted clear yellow front) work with the colours within the piece, making the image seem different in every lighting condition. The coloured perspex frames reflect the playful approach Olivia takes when creating each piece. Everything she does is completely unique and different every time.

This composition explores juxtapositions, both formally and conceptually, between two different environments – the urban city and the rural countryside. The straight and angled lines allude to the urban cityscape, while the curved and more organic forms are remiscnent of the rolling countryside.  Olivia works with contrasts in line, colour and form and a sense of harmony is achieved by balancing this series of juxtapositions.

This digitally manipulated monoprint is presented within two layers of coloured perspex that are part of the artistic process.  The perspex frames are custom made to accompany the print that is in them – the colours of the front and back panels are chosen to compliment and work with the colours in the print. Spilt batons are on the reverse so it is easily attachable to the wall and they are positioned in all four directions on the reverse, so that you can choose the direction it is hung. Both frame and artwork are in excellent condition.

This monoprint is created from two individual stencils, layered to create a dynamic interaction of line, form and colour. Where the shapes overlap, the rich, oil-based inks merge to produce unique hues, adding depth and vibrancy. Variations in the transparency and thickness of ink contribute texture, enhancing the layered conversation between the materials and the composition’s visual elements.

This monoprint is created from three stencils layered on top of one another, each in a different colour and of different forms. When examined closely, there is a lovely complexity to the artwork as the thickness of the ink of the final layer (dark blue) almost has a three dimensional quality, yet it is more transparent compared to the green opaque layer beneath. The mixture of the curved and straight lines accentuate one another through their contrasts.

A unique abstract collograph by contemporary British artist Frances Daws, executed with carbon black oil on fabriano printmaking paper, and beautifully presented in a double card mount with blue detail, within a gilt frame.

This collograph is described as such because the base of the plate is cardboard rather than metal. Frances would have started with a shiny surface, carving away to reveal the matt surface underneath. This is an intaglio method where the ink stays within the recess, once the plate is sealed and inked up it is then printed through a press; a heavy metal roller on a flat bed. The pressure transfers the print onto dampened paper. With this particular print Frances used papers and texture to add colour while the plate was printed in carbon black oil based ink on fabriano printmaking paper. She decided to only print this plate once which is why it’s a 1/1 , making it entirely unique.

Frances Daws is a British Artist working in the Southwest of England. Primarily a painter she also works within printmaking. Having lived by the English coastline and now residing within the countryside her work is often formed by ‘colour journeys’ a form of mapping the landscape through the emotive language of colour.
