The vast landscape is what fills most of this painting, reminding us humans of our position in the universe. We are but a speck. Through its exploration of lines and generating and defining of shapes such as the curve, circles, angles and arabesque, this painting picks up on the style and ideas of the Movement paintings of British St Ives School artist Sir Terry Frost, who explored concepts around creating rhythm, counterpoint, interruption and repetition.
A wonderful visual vocabulary of bright primary colours, shapes, and movement transforms what would normally just be a group of mugs and pitchers, and has given them a life of their own.
The magic in this is that the artist has taken ordinary objects, and has looked at them in a way that has removed all preconceived notions of visual experience in order to open up the possibility of recreating and reimagining that defies reality. There is an openness to serious play with colour and shape. This painting is simple and surprisingly subtle, but very satisfying to look at, and to enjoy.
This lovely oil on board is in excellent vintage condition. The complementary frame as seen in the photos is included with the painting.

The beauty of such a town square is that it encourages sociability and acts as a centre point for cultural life in the city.
The artist has managed to capture this essence so perfectly in this work, as this town square is so alive and buzzing with energy. Nightfall has set in, and a line-up of stalls are presented; people from all walks of life are coming together, socialising, checking out the interesting stalls, and taking a break from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
Although the artist has chosen to use a darker colour palette to exemplify this night time scene, hints of orange have been used extensively to accentuate and highlight the distinct forms throughout the painting.
This mid 20th century painting is an original oil on canvas by female Swedish painter Gusty Olsson (1902 -1976), and is signed on the lower left.
The painting is presented in its original frame, which has some slight signs of ageing, more so to the upper edge. It is in good vintage condition overall.

A really unique semi-abstract painting in oil of a muse posing for an artist. In this piece emphasis has been placed on lines and forms as opposed to realistic details. For example, a triangular plane of saturated yellow has been used to represent the light streaming from the lamp shade above the head of the artist. But this plane of yellow is also what creates perspective and depth in this picture, establishing the space between the artist and the muse. Rich colours of green, yellow and gold give this painting a resplendence, emphasised further by the gilt frame surrounding the painting.

Painted in 1973, this quintessentially modernist painting depicts three female figures seated by the sea. The figures are almost sculptural in form, their soft curves enhanced by the contrasting hard edges of the ledge they sit on and the horizon beyond.
The painted surface has scattered areas of small losses, and there is general surface wear and marks to the panel edges. The artwork is painted in oil, and the board upon which it is painted has been set within a thick wooden panel which can be hung on its own as is.

A very large and very vibrant oil that would definitely make for an eye-catching feature piece in any interior. The artist has explored the use of colour to its full effect, using bold and rhythmic brushstrokes that set your eyes dancing. Strong outlines and saturated colour in oil form wonderful patterns, reminiscent of the fauvist works by artists such as Henri Matisse.
The subject matter too is thoroughly heart warming – a family of 3 walk to the end of a path, taking in the view of the open sea through a gap in the luscious trees, as the surrounding landscape wraps them in a colourful and playful embrace.
This original mid century oil painting is by artist Hans Öllgard (1911-1969) and is housed in robust gilt frame. An engraved metal plate carrying the artist’s name and dates is affixed to the frame.
