A small and visually impactful semi-abstract composition in oil, painted by British artist Lloyd Durling,

The surface is thick with textured impasto, giving the work a tactile, almost sculptural presence. The composition is divided into vivid colour blocks—warm corals, sunny yellows, soft aquas, and hints of mint—intersected by expressive black and blue marks that suggest floral forms.

Lloyd’s use of thick paint application invites a physical response—you can almost feel the surface just by looking at it. This rich texture adds depth and dynamism, engaging the senses beyond the visual.

The loosely defined forms gives us viewers just enough to begin imagining flowers or figures without being literal. Its small size encourages close, personal viewing. It feels like a private experience—something to be studied and absorbed in a quiet moment. A perfect example of how small artworks can carry a big impact.

This impasto painting is mounted a dark stained oak frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

Lloyd is based in London and his practice is painting-based. His first international solo show was in 2010 at Golden in Chicago and he has exhibited widely throughout Europe, Asia and the US. In 2017 he was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. Lloyd’s works are held in public and private collections worldwide, including the Whitworth Art Gallery and Museum, Progressive collection, America and Nomura Bank, Japan.
