A fantastic semi-abstract modernist oil painted onto canvas. We see here a black silhouette of a figure, set against an abstracted background. The artist has played with shape, form and colour, juxtaposing the rounded curves of the dark figure with the more formal geometric angles of the lighter background. This stunning abstract in oil is an excellent example of how simplicity can be beautiful. Splitting the composition horizontally into three separate sections (four if you look closely), the artist has captured the serene panoramic landscape of the ocean and sky. Perhaps you see something entirely different, but that is the beauty of the abstract. The lower section of cobalt blue draws our eyes in immediately, soaking us up in its richness.
