An emotive and brilliantly executed mid-century composition, painted in oil onto board by the established Swedish artist Eric Elfvén (1921–2008), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
The composition depicts a toreador dressed in white, courageously waving a pink muleta at a charging bull. The presence of both figures are set against a backdrop of warm and muted shades of orange and red, evoking a sense of energy to the painting.

An expressive mid-century figurative composition, executed in gouache and dated 1953.
The painting captures a striking side profile of a female figure holding a rooster with her right hand. The woman’s statuesque form contrasts with the rooster’s tense posture.
The artist has used long, sweeping brushstrokes that are both expressive and fluid, imbuing the scene with a sense of intensity.
