A small and engaging mid-century animal composition painted in a naïve style, executed in oil onto board.

A dove stands in profile, with its body facing left and its gaze directed forward.

The colour palette is restrained and subdued, utilising shades of browns and white. The background is split into sections, with a darker brown area surrounding the bird, creating a stark contrast with its white shade. There is a small rectangular window in the upper left corner, where we can spot a few tiny birds, and of which also adds depth to the composition.  The brushstrokes are smooth, suggesting careful layering of colours.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary black frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
