A wonderfully executed and soothing modernist style still life composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated MCMLI (1951).
The painting presents a group of objects including a white pitcher and a bowl of apricots sitting patiently on a window sill.
Through the use of an array of muted and uplifting colours, soft and gentle brushstrokes, as well as thin black outlines to define and draw our attention to the individual forms of the respective objects, the painting invites viewers to appreciate the beauty of everyday objects.
The oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame with an inner window. The painting has tiny pinhole marks to its corners from a previous frame, but this is only visible on close inspection. Otherwise, it is in very good vintage condition.
