A tranquil and atmospheric mid-century modernist landscape composition, that wonderfully captures the beauty and harmony in nature. It has been executed in oil onto board, and signed by Swedish artist Eric Cederberg (1897-1984) whose artworks have been represented in several public and museum collections across Sweden.

The use of a rich and earthy colour palette dominates this painting, as it features a brown terrain landscape with touches of lush greenery. Painted in a semi-abstract manner, all realistic details have been omitted, and the artist’s painterly approach is evident in the textured and expressive brushstrokes that vary in thickness and direction. Shades of brown and green have been meticulously layered and strategically placed to create depth and add a tactile quality to the painting.

An expansive blue cloudy sky fills the upper portion of the composition, juxtaposing the earthy tones of the terrain landscape beneath. The use of varying shades of blue creates a sense of depth and atmosphere, and the loose and unrestrained brushstrokes capture the transient conditions of the atmospheric conditions and add a dynamic quality to the painting.
