Coastal Path

SOLD.

An atmospheric and restful coastal landscape composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1967.

The artist skilfully captures the essence of a tranquil coastal scene with a touch of human presence, intertwining elements of nature and civilisation.

The foreground of the painting presents a pathway that runs through the undulating landscape terrain, inviting the viewer to explore further. The pathway guides the eye towards a row of houses nestled towards the back of the painting. As our gaze travels further into the background, a magnificent view of a vast coast emerges.

The artist has used muted colours throughout the composition, and the colours gradually darken from the foreground, enhancing the illusion of depth and width. Lighter earthy shades dominate the foreground, with soft browns and greens evoking the natural beauty of the landscape, and as we move towards the coast a dark navy blue tone has been used to capture the sea.

This oil on canvas is housed in a well suited gilt frame with linen inner border.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition. To the lower right corner of the frame, the linen has shrunk slightly over time, but this doesn’t detract from its overall appearance.
