This wonderful and delightful early 20th Century garden scene depicts three ladies taking tea outside. The artist has composed the scene in the impressionist manner, reminiscent of the famous garden party works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The ladies perch on garden chairs, while one rests against a tree, drinking tea from a small table.
Subtle dappled sunlight from the tree canopy above aids the picturesque, calm qualities of the setting, and the overall composition has a distinct and purposeful elegance.
Painted in oil on canvas which has been laid down to board, this painting is in fine vintage condition with a very minor surface mark to the lower left corner.
