This nude study captures the female form elegantly and expressively. The artist has used long, narrow lines to outline the form, and used hatching to capture the three dimensionality of the form of the body, giving the drawing a sculptural quality. A different technique has been used to fill in the background – it seems the artist has used the pastel to colour over a textured surface to create a dappled effect.
The pastel has been beautifully framed in a wood and gilt frame, and is set behind glass to protect the vulnerability of the medium. Both pastel and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

A bright and very well executed mid century oil, painted in canvas.
We see a female figure en verso, her form reduced to a series of thin outlines in black. Wide and sweeping brushstrokes in pastel colours have been applied – vertical strokes for the figure, and horizontal strokes in the background. This seemingly simple composition has in fact been very skilfully executed, with the contrasting shades of non realistic colour creating depth and a sense of space, light and shadow.
The painting is housed in a thin frame, which gives it a contemporary edge. Both painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.

An interior scene painted in a muted and earthy palette, showing a shadowy interior with a group of figures painted in a modernist style. The artist has used the medium of tempera to paint this picture, which is the technique of painting with pigments bound in a water-soluble emulsion, such as water and egg yolk, or an oil-in-water emulsion such as oil and egg. Tempera dries to a hard, fairly translucent film, which in this case enables us to see the drawing beneath the painting, giving us a rare view of the artist’s workings.

The artist has managed to capture the complexity of the human body, while keeping to the impressionist style. This large abstracted depiction of the female figure may seem simple at first glance, but as we spend the time to look at its forms, lines and colours, we soon realise its complexity. In some ways a reminder of the Nude Blue cut-outs series by Henri Matisse, the nude figure in this painting has been abstracted down to a group of shapes and colours. The artist has avoided any attempt to mimic reality and has instead used blocks of soft yet contrasting colours to create a sense of space and three dimensionality. Paint has been applied lightly and sparsely, allowing the raw canvas to show through.
Painted by in 1968, this wonderful oil is housed in a red and gilt wood frame with a linen slip, and is in excellent condition with some minor scuffs to the frame.

An absolutely stunning mid 20th century oil painting of a female nude on a lounge chair in a reclined position.
The female figure is well-composed and has an air of confidence. Her hair is styled in a bun, without a single strand out of place. At work, she is a woman of power, and she has just returned home after a long day of negotiating deals, wanting to unwind.
The viewer is unable to make eye contact, as she is faced away gazing to the distance, and appears to be caught up in her thoughts, and not wishing to be interrupted.
Her body recognises that it is time to unwind and leave one’s worries behind, as she is sat in a relaxed manner – with her slender legs stretched out, and her hands laid across the arm rests.
It is signed and dated 1943 to the lower left, and is complemented by its gilt frame.

An expressionist scene of 2 female bathers against a watery landscape. The figures have their backs to the viewer, and we are only able to able to catch sight of the side profiles.
Bathers in art have been a long-standing tradition since the Renaissance, and this artwork in particular is reminiscent of the bathing scenes from Paul Cezanne.
The forms of the two nudes are bold and well emphasised, as their silhouettes have been outlined by thick black lines .The artist has used quick and short brushstrokes, as well as heavy impasto to create a sense of three dimensionality in this work. The orderly blocks of blue in differing shades in the background helps create the illusion of depth in this painting.
The painting is surrounded by a fantastic and robust original ash and green frame.
