It’s hard to go wrong with a solid Matisse-esque colour palette of blue, yellow and pinkish-red. The blocks of horizontal high contrast colours of blue and marigold in this Swedish painting give it a contemporary charm and sun and sea vibes.

A enchanting painting of a picturesque scene in Provence of lavender fields with mountains in the background. Spring has arrived, and one can almost smell the scent of lavender permeating the air, as the vibrant purple crops are ready for harvest. Four farmers are depicting out in the fields, enjoying their day while they harvest the crops. The buds have formed on the plant, but the flowers have yet to burst into full bloom – as it is the best time to be harvested.
The painting comes in lovely pastel tones, and the artist has managed to capture the delicate nature of flowers so effortlessly through the use of fine, short brushstrokes.
This is a mixed media on paper, and the vintage gilded frame with red velvet lining that comes with the artwork adds so much character to it. The painting is glazed (there is a layer of glass between the frame and artwork).
The artwork and frame are in very good vintage condition, with only some very minor scuffing.

This oil on stretched canvas is excellently executed – blocks of contrasting green in both saturated and pastel shades give it so much life and movement. The brushwork is beautiful and textured, and the composition is very well balanced. The blocks of colour give it a structured feel, but the expressive brushwork imbue it with freedom and movement. The artist has executed the painting with flat planes of colour while still maintaining perspective within the picture – just stunning!
The painting comes in its original painted wooden frame and suits the painting perfectly. There are minor scuffs to the frame, but this is in line with its age and vintage charm.

A stunning impressionist oil painting capturing a scene of a wharf with fishing boats docked by the river’s edge. It is a fine and quiet day in spring, the air is calm, and a beautiful reflection is cast on the water’s surface.
This work is a visual pleasure to any viewer, as there is so much harmony – from the balanced colours, forms, lines and texture presented. The transition of the crops and river in the foreground, to the wharf in the middle ground, and lastly to the forest and sky in the background is so well executed, it creates a sense of cohesion and wholeness to the painting.

This artwork is so unique as it is painted on not one, but two sides!
On one front, a cheerful autumnal landscape scene that is painted in a fauvist manner is presented. One is captivated by the striking use of strong vivid colours, and the use of bold and distinctive brushwork that certainly enhances the work’s emotional power.
On the other reverse, a stunning 1950s modernist painting of a French Village is presented. Using a wonderfully unique colour palette, it instills the pictured French village with so much life and character. The artist has chosen not to paint any figures in this picture, but the buildings have been painted in such an expressive, vibrant and textured manner that they almost double as people – the bold outlines and different coloured facades give each structure its own personality. Even the fencing in the forefront has been given close attention by the artist. The bold and gestural brushstrokes in the forefront of the painting contrast elegantly with the lighter and more muted palette of the sky.
There is so much to look at and notice in the entirety of this artwork – a delightful array of colours, textures and structures on both sides.

A small, stunning and very well balanced oil on board. We see cows resting under a tree in pasture, keeping themselves cool and shaded from the summer heat. The mix of contrasting green tones against the blue sky add depth to the picture. The two large trees are punctuated by the string of resting cows on the left, adding a wonderful sense of balance and harmony to the picture. The combination of the cows in repose, the rich green brushwork and the blue skies really lend a sense of tranquillity and calm to this small but confident picture.

Despite its small size, this painting does not seem to be at all constrained by its borders. An expansive and panoramic view beckons us, and tiny details within the pastoral landscape invite us in to take a closer look. The artist has used swift and sweeping strokes of colour to paint the atmospheric sky, while maintaining a more restrained hand when painting the finer details of the tree-lined fields and sheep below.

This piece is most certainly one of our favourites. Delicately painted in creamy pastel tones, this textured piece is a holiday on canvas. This wonderful and delightful early 20th Century garden scene depicts three ladies taking tea outside. The artist has composed the scene in the impressionist manner, reminiscent of the famous garden party works by Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The ladies perch on garden chairs, while one rests against a tree, drinking tea from a small table.
Subtle dappled sunlight from the tree canopy above aids the picturesque, calm qualities of the setting, and the overall composition has a distinct and purposeful elegance.
Painted in oil on canvas which has been laid down to board, this painting is in fine vintage condition with a very minor surface mark to the lower left corner.
