Whispers of Blue

A very pleasant and soothing modernist abstract landscape oil composition dated 1964, and painted by the established Swedish artist Ture Fabiansson (1910-1994), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, The Museum of Art in Gothenburg, Jönköping Museum, Borås Art Museum, and many others.

The painting presents a lyrical abstraction of nature, rendered in a simplified, expressive manner. Dominating the canvas is a large, cloud-like form in soft sky blue, spreading across the surface in loose, swirling brushstrokes that suggest movement and depth. Around this central mass, smaller organic shapes in earthy olive-greens rise vertically, evoking trees or natural formations, while muted pink and cream passages peek through, softening the composition.

The style is minimalist yet painterly, leaning toward abstraction while still evoking landscape elements. The palette is restrained but harmonious: pale blue, moss green, muted pink, and warm beige. The brushwork is broad, textured, and somewhat gestural, creating a sense of spontaneity and rhythm.

Overall, the piece balances form and void, evoking the serenity of a landscape distilled into pure colour and shape.
