Using a variety of deep and rich tones of purple, blue, red and pink, the artist depicts a market town, complete with figures and horse carts. Expressive and gestural brushstrokes fill the canvas, creating a composition full of energy and dynamism, and capturing the liveliness of the market scene. The artist has applied layers of colour, building up texture and depth, enabling us viewers to get a sense of his practice. There are a myriad of details to explore, from the angular town houses in the background to the softer forms of the animals and figures, including the pops of yellow and blue that act as focal points.

This brilliantly executed large oil on canvas is is housed in a well-suited linen lined frame that has a wood-lined outside border as well as an inner gilt window. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
