The Spotted Dog

This charming metal sculpture depicts a stylised dog, its elongated body, slender legs and gently lowered head lending it a wonderfully distinctive silhouette. The animal’s form has been reduced to simple, angular shapes, with a gracefully curled tail and delicately incised facial features adding character and a playful sense of personality.

Executed in a modernist, folk-art-inspired style, the sculpture celebrates simplicity of form and an almost whimsical interpretation of the animal. Its dark charcoal-grey metallic finish has a subtle silvery sheen, while small, irregularly scattered markings across the body suggest a spotted coat.

The metal surface displays a beautifully textured, hand-worked appearance, with fine linear marks and engraved details that contrast with the sculpture’s otherwise smooth, sculptural planes. Its exaggerated proportions and minimalist construction give the piece a distinctly mid-century aesthetic.

Full of charm and character, this delightful sculpture would make a striking decorative accent, particularly in a mid-century modern or eclectic interior.

The sculpture is in good vintage condition, with some light marks commensurate with its age.
