A brilliantly executed abstract figurative oil composition painted by the established Swedish artist Ivar Morsing (1919-2009), whose works have been exhibited in public collections including the National Museum in Stockholm, Moderna Museet in Stockholm, Kalmar Museum, and Jönköping Museum.

In this small yet impactful composition, we can discern a figure walking on a pathway in a natural landscape with trees. Abstract in nature, all realistic details have been omitted and there is a strnog focus on brushstroke and colour.

The scene is bathed in a restrained palette of muted earthy shades of browns and cream – evoking an emotive and nostalgic atmosphere.

The brushwork is loose and dynamic, with visible, thick strokes that convey movement and spontaneity. This gestural technique gives the painting a sense of immediacy and emotion, drawing the viewer into the scene’s atmospheric quality.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
