A wonderfully executed semi-abstract modernist figurative composition, painted in oil onto board.

Simple yet effective in its composition, the painting depicts 3 figures engaging in a game of football. The artist has intentionally chosen not to focus on realistic details and instead, has reconstructed the figures down using flat blocks of contrasting colours to demonstrate form and depth.

The rich and striking colours of the figures in orange, red, white and black contrast against a beautiful background that has an effective colour gradient from light green to blue shades.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame with black outlines. There is some paint loss to the outermost edges of the painting (due to the frame), as shown in close ups, but this does not detract from its overall attractiveness. The frame has some wear and scuffing, as shown in photos.
