An emotive and engaging modernist style figurative composition, executed in oil onto card and dated 1964.
The painting depicts the silhouettes of 2 slender figures that are seemingly engaged in a conversation, under a beaming sun. Juxtaposed against a lighter cream background, the figures create a focal point for our eyes with their darker shades.
Painted in a semi-abstract manner, all realistic details have been omitted, drawing our attention instead to painterly elements such as the expressive and painterly brushstrokes as well as the restrained colour palette.
This oil on card is housed in a complementary wood frame with a linen lined border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some scuffs.
