A playful mid-century modernist style still life painting, executed in oil onto canvas.

The composition features a stylised depiction of a violin, open book, apples, and a wine bottle with a glass, all arranged on a table.

Containing elements of cubism, the violin has skilfully been deconstructed into simplified forms. The artist has used bold, flat colours to outline shapes and create depth, allowing for an interplay of light and shadow.

The brushstrokes are smooth and controlled, contributing to a clean quality. The colour palette is dominated by cool tones, primarily deep blues and greens, contrasting with touches of warm colours like the yellow and red of the fruits and the brown of the table.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame with a hessian lined border. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
