An outstanding mid-century modernist style still life painting, executed in oil onto board.

Simple yet effective in its composition, the artwork presents a group of objects including jugs and bowls carefully arranged across a burnt orange surface that exudes warmth, and placed against a luminous light yellow backdrop.

Celebrating the simplicity and beauty found in everyday objects, the earthenware seem to converse with each other, their forms rendered through a sophisticated progression of rich colours. Starting with the lightest shades of yellow on the left of each object, they gradually transform into shades of orange and then deeper, nuanced browns as they ascend towards the right. This dynamic shift in colour adds a sense of depth and dimensionality, as if the objects are caught in a dance between light and shadow.

The artist has also skilfully applied thick and textured brushstrokes to create a visually tactile and expressive surface, further highlighting the three-dimensional qualities of the objects.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has slight wear.
