Interior in Yellow

A really striking mid century modernist interior scene, painted in oil onto canvas, and presented in a simple wooden frame that suits it perfectly.

Here we see a composition of a dining room interior, with 3 chairs around a table, and a colourful carpet underneath it. Hanging above the table is a light, which has been depicted using thin black outlines. To the left we see the edge of a window as well. All this is set against a lemon yellow background, where evidence of the use of complementary colours is in action. Purple and blues of the ground and rug which contrast against the yellow background make each other stand out even more. The artist has also flattened the space, using clearly defined shapes and angles to draw our eyes to particular areas and explore the shapes and patterns.

This oil on canvas is housed in its original mid-century wooden frame. Both the frame and painting are in excellent vintage condition.
