A bold and striking mid-century abstract landscape composition, painted in oil onto canvas and dated 1958.

The painting presents an interpretation of trees and a pathway, set against a backdrop of sky and fields. Containing elements of cubism as well as geometric abstraction, this landscape scene has been skilfully deconstructed and reduced into angular and geometric shapes, as well as bold lines.

The colour palette is restrained – with earthy shades of greens contrasting with cool tones of blues.

The brushstrokes are deliberate and flat, emphasising form and shape, and allowing the viewer’s eye to focus on the interplay of colour and geometry.

This oil on canvas is housed in a well-suited light blue painted wood frame. The painting has very small areas of paint loss on its left side as shown in the photos, but this is only noticeable upon close inspection. The frame has some general scuffing  as shown in the close ups.
