A captivating mid-century abstract figurative portrait, executed in oil onto board.

The composition masterfully captures the reduction of forms and emphasises abstraction as it presents a family of 4 figures against a green backdrop.  Each figure has been elegantly reduced into blocks of contrasting shades, as they gaze upwards and their faces are obscured by the absence of facial features.

A distinctive touch is the portrayal of their heads in saturated colour, as well as the unique blue outline that contours each figure, drawing our attention to each of their forms. Through the use of a heavily muted palette as well as smooth brushstrokes, the artist has managed to skilfully create a unique ‘hazy’ effect to the painting, creating a sense of mystery and nostalgia.

This oil on board is housed in a complementary gilt frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
