This painting showcases Durling’s distinctive abstract vocabulary—tactile, spatially quiet, and emotionally charged through texture and colour. It feels like a visual diary entry composed of silences punctuated by vivid moments.

Durling introduces small blocks of intense, saturated colours including jet black, fiery orange, acidic yellow, and forest green, scattered throughout the pale background like thoughts breaking through quietude. Thick, painterly textures dominate the surface. The paint is almost sculpted, making the canvas a physical object as much as a visual one. This adds emotional depth—you sense that each mark carries intention and presence.

This impasto painting is mounted a dark stained oak frame. The dark wooden frame again complements the painting beautifully—earthy and solid, grounding the delicate and expressive content within.

Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.

Lloyd is based in London and his practice is painting-based. His first international solo show was in 2010 at Golden in Chicago and he has exhibited widely throughout Europe, Asia and the US. In 2017 he was awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant. Lloyd’s works are held in public and private collections worldwide, including the Whitworth Art Gallery and Museum, Progressive collection, America and Nomura Bank, Japan.
