A very charming mid century figurative composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

Characterised by a cubist ethos, a ballet dancer stands starkly against an abstracted and fragmented background. The artist has broken down the painted surface into distinct planes, suggesting the three dimensionality of the space while also skilfully emphasising the flatness of the canvas. The white leotard of the figure stands out amidst the darker tones of the coloured background. Her form, though fluid, blends in seamlessly with the hard angled shapes of the background.

There is a wonderful timeless quality to this painting.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. There is very slight wear to the edges of the painting due to the frame (as see in close ups). Otherwise, the painting and frame are in very good vintage condition.
