A soothing mid-century street scene composition, painted in oil onto canvas.

The composition presents an ascending road as well as a street walk with passers-by, lined with buildings that have been simplified into clean lines, geometric forms, and contrasting colours.

The strong focus on lines and geometry is evident throughout the composition, guiding the viewer’s eye across the canvas. The skilfull use of perspective enhances the depth of the scene.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary gilt frame. The painting has an area of loss to the upper section (sky area) as shown in close ups. The frame has a nick to the right border, and some paint loss to the bottom edge.
