An atmospheric and beautifully textured mid century coastal scape executed oil onto board.

In this calm and still painting, three boats and two oars sit quietly on a sandy shoreline, and we can spot a thin stretch of grass in the foreground, as the sea and sky both drift off into one another and into the horizon so seamlessly.

Using a restrained colour palette, the dark brown boats contrast starkly against the whites and light blue of its surrounding colours, making it the focal point when we first lay our eyes on the painting.

Through the use of short painterly and expressive brushstrokes, the artist has confidently applied thick layers of paint to wonderfully capture the forces of nature as well as add a beautiful textural quality to the painting.

This oil on board is housed in a light grey wooden frame with linen border, which complements the painting very well. Both the frame and painting are in excellent vintage condition.
