A striking and very confidently executed mid-century abstract coastal landscape composition in oil, painted onto canvas.

The painting presents a scenic and vibrant hiking trail along a coast. Abstract in nature, all realistic details have been intentionally left out, as the artist has chosen instead to focus on colour and brushstroke, as the scene has been deconstructed and simplified down to blocks of contrasting shades.

The artist has worked boldly in his medium of oil, confidently applying layers of rich colours in broad, gestural, and expressive brushstrokes that capture the energy and immediacy of his hand. These contrasting shades not only add a wonderfully textured surface and a sense of depth to the painting, but the muted hues imbue the work with an uplifting and soothing quality.

This oil on canvas is housed in a well-suited wood frame with an inner gilt window. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
