    A very pleasant mid 20th century oil on canvas presenting a magnificent panoramic view of a park and the city.

    The sky is blue, and the air is crisp; as 2 friends are enjoying their picnic in the park whilst admiring the stunning view that overlooks the city.

    The artist has used a vibrant colour palette, especially multiple shades of green, that imbues the work with so much life and vitality. The brushstrokes used are short and broad, with each brush mark visible and distinct.

    Furthermore, the composition is highly well-balanced – with the area of lush greenery and blue sky having equal visual weight.

    This oil on canvas is in good vintage condition. There are minor areas of craquelure (fine cracks in the paint) as seen in the photos, but the paint layer is stable overall. Cracks forming within the paint layer is natural as the paint starts to age. Craquelure is not in itself harmful to the painting, and can add to the ‘quality’ of patina that only age can bring.

    The work housed in a robust sage green frame that complements the artwork very well. There are some marks on the frame; and as it is its original frame, its joints are slightly delicate, but nevertheless, holds the painting well.

    The artist has creatively depicted a myriad of detail in this artwork – from the paintings hanging on a wall beside a bookshelf in the background, potted plants set on a window pane that overlook a garden filled with autumnal coloured trees, and most strikingly, the table in the foreground where a sewing activity was taking place, and a piece of fabric held down by a unique duck shaped planter.

    The painting is housed in a complementary beige and brown frame. The painting is in good vintage condition, with a an area of surface paint loss. The rest of the paint area remains stable. The top left inner section of the frame also has a minor loss.

    This coastal scape draws on a range of modernist concepts and influences including cubism, abstraction, and fauvism; and as we spend time to study its colours, forms and play on geometric shapes, there is more than meets the eye.

    Blocks of contrasting bold colours have been use to give rise to the various forms, and the artist has wonderfully managed to capture reflections in the water through the use of short and swift brushstrokes.

    A fantastic still life oil painted in the impressionist style. Here the artist has rendered rich and intense colours,  seeking oppositions of blue with orange, red and green, yellow and violet. Also evident is the artist’s use of the impressionist skill of the spontaneous brushstroke, each brush mark visible and distinct. Contrasting colours combined with multi directional strokes convey a sense of light and movement. There is a certain warmth and homeliness to this painting.

    The work is well executed with short and swift brushstrokes, and painted with great confidence.

    Presenting a tray holding some fruits, glasses and a pitcher, we love the cool blue undertones in the work, and how the artist has highlighted the reflections and shadowy effects of the objects in blue as well, imbuing the work with so much character.

    This painting is in excellent vintage condition.

    It comes with a unique wood frame laid weaving and  a linen lining. Do note that the weaving on the frame has some fraying and losses

    A very large and very vibrant oil that would definitely make for an eye-catching feature piece in any interior. The artist has explored the use of colour to its full effect, using bold and rhythmic brushstrokes that set your eyes dancing. Strong outlines and saturated colour in oil form wonderful patterns, reminiscent of the fauvist works by artists such as Henri Matisse.

    The subject matter too is thoroughly heart warming – a family of 3 walk to the end of a path, taking in the view of the open sea through a gap in the luscious trees, as the surrounding landscape wraps them in a colourful and playful embrace.

    This original mid century oil painting is by artist Hans Öllgard (1911-1969) and is housed in robust gilt frame. An engraved metal plate carrying the artist’s name and dates is affixed to the frame.

    The painting is in excellent vintage condition, with only very minor scuffs to the frame.
