Divided Form

A compelling mid-century abstract composition that presents a fragmented, almost architectural figure suspended within a carefully balanced geometric space, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Gunnar Johnsson (1917–2007), whose artworks have represented in public collections including the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Sweden, the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, and the Skåne Art Association.

Bisected by a vertical band, the form appears simultaneously concealed and revealed, inviting contemplation of identity, duality, and perception. A solitary circular shape floats to the right, introducing a symbolic counterpoint to the central structure.
