Quiet Hours

A large and expressive mid-century interior still life that captures a quiet, contemplative moment within a rustic domestic space,  executed in oil onto canvas.

A sunlit table by the window holds a cluster of everyday objects: a ceramic pot, a coffee grinder, and a single blue cup and saucer  – all rendered with dynamic and swift brushstrokes. Soft daylight filters through curtains, casting diffused shadows and illuminating the worn tabletop with a gentle, silvery glow.

The artist has used broad, gestural brushstrokes and a muted palette of earthen browns, greys, creamy whites, and soft blues. The treatment of light and surface recalls Scandinavian modernist sensibilities, where atmosphere and introspection are prized over precision.
