White City

SOLD.

A calm and restful mid-century cityscape, executed in oil onto canvas by the established Swedish artist Fabian Lundqvist (1913-1989), whose works have been represented in many public collections in Sweden.

The composition portrays rows of white buildings of differing heights, stretching out into the distance. In the right side of the foreground, we can discern a tall and slender silhouette of figure portrayed with minimal detail, standing against the town. The artist has purposely simplified the architectural details of the town, reducing it to simplified blocks of white shades with varying intensities.

The colour palette of the painting is limited to muted shades of white, grey. These gentle colours create a subdued atmosphere, evoking a sense of tranquility. The brushstrokes in the painting are gentle and smooth, creating a sense of calmness throughout the artwork.

The painting’s minimalistic feel makes it an easy piece to fit into a wide variety of interior settings.

This oil on canvas is housed in a ridged frame with multiple profiles, that pairs beautifully with the painting. Both the painting and frame have some marks as shown in the close ups, but they are in good vintage condition overall.
