A brilliantly executed mid century composition of a village, painted in oil and dated 1951.

This inviting picture features soft, warm colours painted in a non naturalistic manner. Working under a modernist ethos, the artist has used a rural village scene as his source of inspiration, using the shapes and forms of the houses to create a sense of space and depth. His soft brushstrokes are evident, giving this painting its tactile quality.

This oil on canvas is housed in a lovely wood frame with an inner gilt border. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some very minor scuffs which do not detract from the overall attractiveness of the piece.
