A brilliantly executed mid-century modernist style landscape painting, executed in oil onto board and dated 1956.

The composition features a serene and stylised representation of a landscape setting with rolling hills, a winding path, and clusters of trees. In the background, a hint of blue suggests a sea, under a soft, atmospheric blue sky.

Modernist in its ethos, the artist has reduced and abstracted the natural forms into simplified, geometric shapes. The emphasis is on structure and form rather than on intricate detail or realism.

The colour palette is subdued and calm, dominated by earthy greens, browns, blues, and cream.

The brushstrokes are bold and confident, with visible directionality that adds dynamism to the otherwise still scene.

This oil on board is housed in beautiful wood frame with visible grains, that complements the paining very well.  Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
