An engaging and intimate mid-century modernist style figurative composition, executed in oil onto board and dated 1953.

The painting presents a scene of three simplified figures seated outdoors under a tree, engaged in what appears to be a conversation.

Painted with a modernist ethos, the figures have been abstracted with geometric simplifications and bold outlines, and have been reduced to essential shapes and forms.

The artist has used a muted earthy palette, imbuing the work with a calming quality.

This oil on board is housed in complementary gilt frame with an inner cream border.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some marks on its inner border.
