A large and very detailed mid century modernist interior composition, painted in oil onto panel and dated 1940.

The painting depicts a drum table with several objects on it including a teapot, assortment of fruit, various vessels and a potted plant. The interior has a homeliness to it, capturing details like a calendar on the wall, as well as pictures and plants.

The painting has been executed in an expressionist style, with broad and visible brushstrokes that add texture and vibrancy to the piece. The colours are rich and vivid, and the overall composition has a wonderful liveliness to it.

This large oil on board is housed in a lovely gilt frame. The painting has some small losses and surface marks as shown in the close ups, but due to the amount of detail in the piece these imperfections are not immediately noticeable. The frame has scuffs and paint losses to tis gilt surface as shown.
