A large and striking mid century modernist figurative composition, executed in oil onto board.

2 fishermen are depicted in a boat out at sea, with their catch of the day. The artist has intentionally chosen not to focus on realistic details, and instead focuses our attention on the qualities of line, colour and brushstrokes. Expressive rhythmic brushstrokes in contrasting colours fill the surface, and the use of thoughtful thin black lines that have been swiftly executed adds character to the painting.

This oil on board is housed in a beautiful wood frame with an inner black and gilt window. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
