A soothing and beautifully textured mid-century interior still life composition, executed in oil onto board.
The composition features a carefully arranged tabletop setting of a jug of flowers, a book, as well as a violin. The objects are set against a grey and purple backdrop, that similarly pick up the colours of the table.
The artist has skilfully used expressive and textured brushstrokes, enhancing the three-dimensional qualities of the objects and adding character and dynamism to the overall composition.
This oil on board is housed in a complementary deep-profiled frame that suits the painting very well. The painting is in excellent vintage condition. The frame has a loss to the upper right corner, as shown, and some widening to the corner joins.
