A brilliantly executed modernist style still life composition, executed in oil onto canvas and dated 1965.

The artwork depicts a tabletop setting featuring an assortment of vegetables including carrots, radish, tomatoes, and a cabbage.

Working with a modernist ethos in mind, the artist has intentionally chosen not to focus on realistic details, and instead explores the use of colours, brushstrokes, form and shapes to create a sense of depth and space.

Expressive  and lightly textured brushstrokes fill the canvas and we are able to identify distinct areas of colours, where the artist has skilfully used contrasting flat areas of patches of colour to give rise to the various forms within this composition.

This oil on canvas is housed in a complementary wood frame with an inner linen border. Both painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.
