Spatial Deconstruction

SOLD

A compelling and brilliantly executed mid-century abstract composition, painted in oil on canvas and dated 1957 on the reverse.

Executed in a modernist abstract style, the composition presents a dynamic interplay of geometric shapes, evoking a deconstructed architectural space with clear Cubist influences. The artist has used a sophisticated palette of muted earth tones, including deep greens, ochres, creams, and soft pinks, all contrasted by bold black lines.

The brushwork is expressive and confidently applied, yet controlled, with a layered approach that enhances depth and texture. Some areas exhibit smooth tonal transitions, while others feature a more gestural application with subtle texture, emphasising movement and form.

This oil on canvas is housed in a very well suited linen lined frame with an inner gilt window. Both the painting and frame are in excellent vintage condition.

Size: 72 x 85 cm (including frame)
