An beautifully executed mid-century sunset cityscape of Södermalm in Sweden, painted in oil onto canvas.

The composition is divided diagonally, with the right side featuring tall buildings leading towards the distant horizon. Rendered in a muted and gentle colour palette, the building structures are softened and less visible as they head toward the distance.

Contrasting this subdued view, the left side of the painting bursts with life as it showcases tall buildings and rooftops painted in rich, vibrant colours.

The artist’s brushstrokes are expressive, and the spectrum of hues ranging from warm orange and fiery red to cool pale blue dances across the canvas, evoking the diverse energy of the city at sunset.

This oil on canvas is housed in a distressed wood frame that pairs wonderfully with the painting. The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has several losses to its inner gold slip, as shown.
