A wonderfully textured mid-century village street scene composition, executed in oil onto canvas.

The composition presents a winter scene in a village setting, where buildings in distinct and different colours line both sides of a street. In the middle ground, two figures walk side by side on the street, moving towards the viewer.

The artist’s technique is marked by expressive and confident brushstrokes, creating an impasto effect that adds texture and depth to the composition. The snow on the ground and rooftops is rendered with thick, sculpted strokes, imbuing the surface seem with a tactile quality. The impasto technique brings a dynamic quality to the scene, with the textured brushstrokes capturing the cold, crisp atmosphere of a snowy day.

This oil on canvas is is housed in a cream-coloured wood frame with an inner linen border.  The painting is in excellent vintage condition, and the frame has some marks at its lower right corner.
